Refworks — or does it? February 16, 2008

It’s a great idea in theory, really — Refworks. I’ve been using it more lately, or at least, I’m trying to use it more lately.
The biggest drawback is that each database exports with a different method. Sheesh. Is it just me?
I was having some issues using Zotero (such as it is machine-centric), so I thought perhaps I would give Refworks a good work out instead.
Sure, once you look up the secret Refworks handshake on the library website, and then follow the specific instructions — oops, but I meant to use the export for ScienceDirect, but I’m in Emerald now etc. — sure, then everything works hunky-dory…
Maybe the secret handshakes have been posted on deli.cio.us by some enterprising library? If they are, that might actually be somewhat more helpful.
Think I’ll go take a look.
